Pakistani officials reported that Babu admitted during questioning that he had formed a romantic connection with a woman through social media. Eager to meet her face-to-face, he entered the country without the necessary visa or travel documents.
He was arrested on December 27 after failing to present any travel documentation. Babu has been charged under Sections 13 and 14 of the Foreigners Act of 1946 and was later taken to court.
He has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by the court. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 10, 2025.
This marks yet another occasion where an Indian man has sought to cross the border into Pakistan to be with his partner. In a comparable event in July of this year, a man from Uttar Pradesh attempted to breach the border to marry a Pakistani woman he had met through an online platform.
