A fraudster impersonating Brad Pitt has deceived another victim, this time in France. By utilizing manipulated images and flattery, a French woman was led to believe that she was being courted online by the Hollywood star, resulting in her transferring over 800,000 euros (approximately ₹7 crore) over a span of one year.
Anne, who was married to a wealthy individual but was facing divorce proceedings, continued to receive romantic poems and expressions of affection from the individual posing as “Brad Pitt.” The cybercriminal initiated contact with 53-year-old Anne via Instagram, persuading her to assist with his medical expenses, claiming that his bank accounts were frozen due to his ongoing divorce from estranged wife Angelina Jolie.
How France Women got Scammed
Anne reported to a local news channel that she initially received a message from an account impersonating Pitt’s mother, Jane Etta Pitt, while she was on a ski trip. The following day, she found herself conversing with “Brad Pitt” directly, and the two quickly developed a friendship. Anne, who was married to a millionaire but facing divorce, continued to receive poems and expressions of affection from the fraudulent actor.
Before long, she became convinced that she was engaged in a long-distance relationship with Mr. Pitt. “There are very few men who express themselves in such a manner. I was fond of the man I was communicating with, and he had a way of engaging with women,” she shared with the media.
To preserve the facade, the fraudster consistently ignored her calls while regularly dispatching AI-generated videos and images of himself, aiming to persuade her that it was indeed Brad Pitt communicating with her.
Scammer Faked Kidney Operation of Brad pitt
When Anne’s divorce was finalised, she received a compensation of 775,000 euros. The scammer stepped up his attack and sent doctored videos and photos with the actor’s face to convince Anne that he was undergoing a kidney surgery and needed money.
He assured her that he would send luxurious gifts, which ultimately never materialized, and the couple had even made plans to marry in the near future. Anne’s suspicions were first aroused upon discovering reports regarding Pitt’s involvement with jewelry designer Ines De Ramon.
The revelation had a profound effect on her mental health, leading to her hospitalization for severe depression. Subsequently, she sought assistance from law enforcement and lodged a complaint against the perpetrator.
